The differences between these motion sensors is the way they detect sound or heat. The most commonly selected detector is the passive infrared sensor.

The Advantages of Motion Sensors

Not only are they a cheaper way of protecting a property, but they are proven to keep criminals away in most cases. The lights that the motion sensors activate are extremely bright and will turn on with the slightest sound or movement. This typically frightens a criminal; knowing that they are now under a spotlight.

You will have many options when it comes to outdoor motion sensors and lighting structures. As mentioned, motion sensors are proven to deter criminals, and will even alarm your neighbors. This is great for when you aren't home.

These lights are great for families. At night when everyone is getting home and you are trying to gather everything and everyone to go inside, the lights will come on providing you with easier vision.

Motion lights even keep pests away. Raccoons, rabbits, and other creatures that like to get in the trash or tear up the garden will be deterred from your property when interrupted by the bright lights. Even vermin as small as a squirrel can activate a motion sensor!

It is crucial that you have some form of protection for your property. Criminals often times aim their activities towards a property when they know that no one is home. When you have motion sensors, it’s difficult for potential thieves to determine if the house is occupied or not, encouraging them to move on to easier targets.

While not the most advanced form of home protection available today, motion sensors fit into the old adage that if it’s not broken, you don’t have to fix it. This long-running solution has been protecting homes for years, and is sure to do so for the foreseeable future.
